Videoblogging is the next generation of presenting ideas and products over
the internet. By now most people know about standard text blogging. It is now
possible to use videos for a more effective method of expression. Video
communication can involve a lot of resources but it is well worth it if you want
to take your blogging to the next level. If pictures say a thousand words
videoblogging exceeds that by far.
A videoblog requires larger disk spaces on websites, a faster server, and a
whole new set of programs to support it. Videoblogs can also be fed through RSS.
This is technology of syndicating your website to other RSS aggregators.
From a business prospective there are a lot a lot of benefits. Think of it as a
powerful way of showing your prospective customers your line of products and or
services. It’s just like showing a commercial for free. And if you videoblog
through RSS then most probably you are reaching at least a segment your target
market.
People like to see what they are shopping for. Some would like to see proof and
be sure that they are getting their money’s worth before paying for it. All of
us know the influence that a thirty second commercial can have. The effect of
videoblogging is similar in that you show your product to your blog visitors and
If they like it enough they buy it. If your presention it powerful enough they
might buy the product even if they don’t need it.
Unlike television where everything is fluid, most things on the web are static.
If you post something that is interactive such as a well done video it would
most likely catch the attention of your visitors who will possibly share it with
others creating more visitors to your blog. If your business is just getting
starting you can create a videoblog from your home or office. All you need is
your web camera, microphone, video software and some decent lighting.
Investing in a good web camera will serve you well if you intend on producing
videos for your blog. The higher the resolution the better the output. Create a
short storyboard in preparation for your video. This will help give your
production some structure and flow. Make sure you test some different angles and
positions to insure the best posible profile for yourself and or the products
your are wanting to present.
Lights are also important in any video production. Make sure you illuminate
entirely the area you are going to use to create videoblog. The brighter the
area the sharper the images will appear. You can also use lighting effects for
added appeal to the presentation.
If you require a voiceover for your videoblog you will need a microphone. Record
you voice using some type script for promoting the product and its benefit to
your potential customers. Sound quality is just as important as the video on a
videoblog so hear again quality of the equipment being used is important.
You will also need some video editing software. This will be used to put the
finishing touches on your creation. You can add sounds, delete some bad angles,
or insert some still pictures as well. Some of the basic software programs are
user friendly and can be used even with zero knowledge on video editing. Simple
video editing programs should do the trick until your skill level and desire for
more complicated editing arises. Make sure to select your background carefully
as well. As we mentioned previously the light affects the presentation so make
sure that the background and the light complement each other.
Videoblogging is a great tool but it also has some potential downsides. It can
slow down older computers and the download time may long especially if visitor
is still on a dial-up connection.
Don’t let that stop you, the vast majority of your visitors should not have a
problem viewing your creation. Let videoblogging be an alternative for you while
still keeping the text and pictures present on your blog to accommodate all
possible visitors.
The more creative you are in presenting yourself or your product to the market
the more likely you are to succeed. Videoblogging offers an interactive way of
presenting your business to the world so why not give it a try.
