If money is of no concern there are many quality resources available for home schooling. There are several internet sites that sell full lines of home school curriculums and materials which are wonderful resources but may be too expensive for most.

The underlying fact is that many home school families sacrifice the second income of a parent so that they are available to teach. This will often put the family on a tight budget that requires the home school resources to be relatively inexpensive.

Initially the parents may struggle to find inexpensive resources but with experience the parents will find great ways to facilitate the in home school classroom. There are many creative ways to provide both curriculum and materials on a budget. One of the best resources for a home school family is other home school families. Home school families are often very willing to share and exchange their home school resources and often times network with each other or in groups.

This can also be helpful because parents can assist other parents in the best ways to use the resources. Some home school communities have annual events where used materials are available for purchase or trade. This can save a family quite a bit of money in the long term. Another place to find inexpensive home school resources is on sites such as eBay where people can bid for items at an affordable price.

The difficulty with acquiring materials in that way is that they are not available for examination prior to purchase and may not be what is needed. Discount department stores will carry school supplies and will have sales at the beginning of the school year. These stores often carry some books which can be used for curriculum especially in the lower grades. Books with basic math and language arts exercises are available and work great as long as the parent understands the subjects enough to teach them.

The local public library is also great place to find home school resources. Along with the books available most libraries provide computers for public use and may also have a video library on topic of interest.

Often overlooked resources for home school families are local museums and state or federal parks. There are often great materials for subjects such as science and history in these public places. The employees of museums and parks are usually very helpful in providing information.

Bottom line is that finding home school resources can be easily accomplished by a parent even if there is a tight budget to maintain.
