Paintball - Best Weather for Playing Paintball: In the Rain?

Playing paintball in the rain adds a great deal interest and challenge to the game. For those paintball fanatics playing in the rain is at the top of their to do list.

When playing in the rain most everything will be muddy and slippery. The consequences of this are that running, stopping and crouching will be much more difficult than normal. The visibility is likely to be lower and if you throw in a little wind the paintball course can be extremely difficult and challenging to play on. It is this high level of action and the thrill that paintball fanatics look for..

Guidelines for enjoying your paintball game on a rainy day:

1. Put on something that keeps water off of your body such as a raincoat, slicker, waterproof clothing or even plastic garbage bags. It is very important that you stay as dry and warm as possible so you don’t shake and shiver. This will affect your mobility, accuracy and can also be very uncomfortable.

Remembering to cover your head is an absolute must. Wear a waterproof covering making certain that water will not be sliding down your face and cause fog to form on your goggles. Wiping the fog from your goggles each time you pause behind a tree or a bunker can distract from your concentration on the game and also make you a good target.

2. Even if you are using a thermal type of lens make sure to take paper towels with you. The lens on your mask will most likely fog up at some point and the paper towels will come in handy. It is important to keep in mind that you should turn away from the action in a sitting duckcrouch type position before you wipe the fog from your mask.

3. Wear water proof boots or cleats instead of sneakers to keep your feet from getting wet and gloves to prevent cold and wet hands.

4. You should pack extra garbage bags for use as spare coverings because having a soaked paintball can be really frustrating. The bags can be used to cover your gear and function as a raincoat in case of emergency. Huge plastic transparent bags also are great for covering the head, hoppers and the gun. You can turn your gun into an effective waterproofed weapon by simply covering it with plastic and securing it with strong rubber bands.

5. Shooting on a rainy day is much more different than the typical hose down. Consider the amount of barrel smoke that will be produced even when using HPA. Bring along an unported barrel if you happen to have one because porting allows water to get into the barrel resulting in twisting shots.

There are an unlimitted amount ways to add excitement and variety to your paintball game by just allowing your imagination to run wild and experiment with things.

Have fun in the rain!
